Area 34 is a special initiative
of PBS Michiana - WNIT
The Center for Public Media.
It is a virtual workshop and studio
that explores and hosts innovative projects.
Our motto is start small, dream big.
We research and explore mediascapes and dimensions such as:
Multimedia and multiplatform storytelling for adults and children.
Topical deep dives and existing project enhancement.
2D and 3D animation.
Interactive and immersive technologies and environments.
UX and UI deliverables.
AR/VR/MR.
Mapping.
Other emerging media technologies.
What Area 34 IS:
It is a virtual research lab and experimental atelier that you can visit any time.
What Area 34 IS NOT:
Area 34 is not our main website. That can be found here or by pressing any of the PBS Michiana logos throughout this site.
Project #1:
In collaboration with the PBS Michiana Education Engagement team, we are creating a web-based interactive education portal.
We are just a few days into this project but you can watch us grow here.
Coming soon:
Further evolution of the Planner magazine.
Just a few of the questions we are exploring:
What is a potential expanded role of public media in the community?
How can we continue to service the community while we face incapacitating budget cuts?
How is the media landscape evolving and how can we participate?
What do our teams need to better serve our mission?
Always R&D.
